In this Section we provide an introduction to grid analysis methods, including an overview of the kind of facilities available in raster analysis packages and toolsets. Many of the facilities relate to operations on surfaces (e.g. computation of gradient and aspect) and field-like datasets (e.g. interpolation and prediction techniques). These topics are covered in detail in Chapter 6.
